A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with all types of people, as helping people is a great passion of mine. I find it effective to teach by relating to something that the person I am teaching really enjoys. For example if they love basketball, I may try to relate the subject to it, to make it easier to learn. I have a lot of patience and usually have no problem helping someone. I know all it takes is time and hard work to achieve their goals.
I have tutored slightly at my present community college. I tutored math. I have my Associates of Arts degree in Psychology and am currently in the process of obtaining my Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Education. I plan to teach Psychology in the future.

I have taught all ages and levels from preschool through community college. I have enjoyed working with students at all ability levels. I was a peer tutor as early as elementary school. I have taught mathematics at the elementary, middle school, high school, and community college levels. I have a daughter in the 8th grade and a son in the 6th. I have home schooled them the past 9 years. They have very different learning styles which has helped me to learn to teach in different ways to accommodate their needs. I am patient and easy going and I love helping kids.

I do not have a particular style of teaching. I prefer to talk to the individual I am tutoring and together discover the best way to teach them the subject material. I believe that everyone learns information at a different pace and that some information is easier to process than other information. I believe that individuals should be comfortable while learning in order for them to actually learn. I would never force someone to learn "my way" and would work with them on developing a way that works for both of us.
