Please help me save for Italy by doing something I love!

I am currently an elementary education major at Wingate University. I have had 3 years of experience working with and teaching children because of field experience required by my major and teacher cadet in high school. I have also had experience tutoring family members. However, I believe the way each tutoring session is done depends on that particular student and the way he or she learns best and I am willing to adapt the way I tutor in order to help the student to the best of my ability.

Patient and Friendly Tutor!

I try to engage my students in every way possible. Reading and reciting are great for vocabulary memorization, but I try very hard to bring the subject matter to life in a meaningful way to the student. Pictures, music, relevant historical information- anything to help facilitate learning.
Friendly tutor with over five years of experience working with children and adults of all ages. I am a an active learner and listener, so students and I are able to build relationships quickly and can focus on making learning engaging. Prior to working with any student, I always review the subject matter and prepare well in advance to tailor the lesson to the student's individual learning style. I can assist with numerous subject areas- just ask!

A Little Bit About Me...

I tutor based on the individual's learning needs. I have encountered some that were visual learners ad everything had to be drawn/written out. I have also tutored students that can have me explain it and they grasp it easily. My teaching style changes according to the needs of the student because not every one learns the same. I do believe Accounting is a complex field and the student has to have an interest in the field to truly be successful in retaining what they are taught.
While earning my Masters in Accounting, I voluntarily tutored Undergrad students that were earning their Associates or Bachelors in Accounting. The students were enrolled in the local community college (Central Carolina Tech) as well as the University of South Carolina. I have earned an Associates, Bachelors, and Masters which all have concentration in Accounting.

I graduated with a BA degree in Music Education, and have eight years of experience teaching in public schools. I began my career as a music teacher at the middle school level, but soon realized that I had a passion for younger children. I began teaching 5K, and excelled at leading my students to becoming fluent readers by the end of their kindergarten year. I taught kindergarten for 5 years, and then was asked to teach second grade. For the last 6 years of my career, I have taught both Kindergarten and second grade in all academic areas, including reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.
I have a passion for young children, and love being a teacher. I understand that all children have different learning styles, and believe it is my job to meet each child's needs. I am a firm believer in teaching through a hands-on approach. I believe that a firm foundation in phonics i ... read more

I prefer to use a hands on approach to education. I like to have the kids get engrossed in the subject matter by reading aloud and taking part in discussion sessions. It is my belief that all children have the capacity to succeed in school with the proper tools. The tools that I provide are first and foremost, respecting the students without any bias. Secondly, I have worked with and have the capability of working with children of all ages. This allows me to relate to and effectively educate all students. A competent teacher makes a lasting impact in a child’s life which is why my favorite quote is as follows. My teaching style is based on reading then reviewing. At that point in time ask questions to see if the student has grasped the information being given. If not, answer questions then clarify. When reviewing information it is important to make sure the student knows reasoning behind subject matter so that they are understanding logic and not just memorizing information. In subjects that invloves math such as probability, chemistry, or statistics, I would do a few examples followed by letting the tutee working a few problems.

As a teacher in middle school, teaching art was fun and exciting. Until I began to subsititute, did I feel that I could teach and wanted to help children learn. I taught for two years with being a subsitute for nearly four years. I am working on my masters in elementary education.
I believe that teaching should be interactive with imput from the student. This imput will allow the teacher to understand what the student knows and what the weakness might be. I want to make a difference in allowing the student to solve problems with guidance from me.

I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others and showing them something new. I feel a sense of reward when a student of mine realizes that they have a new concept. When the lightbulb comes on it is the best feeling in the world. I believe that given the right tools and the right environment all students can learn anything that they put their minds to. I am not a dictator in my teaching style, more of a teammate. I work alongside students guiding them to the next step. I am a fan of I do, we do, you do. I show them how to do it, we do it together, and finally they show me that they can do it.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught in the public schools of Charlotte for 32 years. After retiring from the public system, I have taught the past 7 years in private Christian education. I am now retired. My experience has been with 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students in all subject areas. My degrees are in Elementary Education and Administration. I enjoy working with students on a one-on-one basis.
My teaching style is fairly laid back. I believe that students learn in a more effective manner when they are not under a lot of stress. I have been very successful in this method. I expect much from my students , but go about it a way that is fun and not intimidating to them. I like to joke with the students. I believe that all children can become successful.

My philosphy of education is that children learn through real-world experiences and tapping into their interests will foster their educational development.
