A Little Bit About Me...

My tutoring began in when I was employed with Nazareth Colleges' Partners for Learning program. This program worked with several schools in the Rochester, NY area to provide in school and after school tutoring and teaching assistance to children grades 6-12. I specialized at one school, Hope Hall in Gates, NY, where I worked with students who had a variety of learning challenges. I assisted students with subjects such as: English, Spanish, French, math, language arts, science and social studies. I worked with Partners for Learning for two years from 2005-2006 while I was finishing my undergraduate degree. I have also been employed as a substitute teacher in my hometown of Rochester, NY.

I graduated from the University of Arizona with a BA in Secondary Education and a BS in Business Administration. My education major is in spanish but I am also certified to teach Mathematics. The majority of my teaching experience is in Mathematics. I am currently an 8th grade Pre-Algebra teacher and also work teaching Algebra at Pima Community College. I have tutored students in spanish and math for over 10 years.
I enjoy teaching Mathematics and helping students realize their true potential. I am not a 'mathematician' , I am a teacher who understands math, so my teaching style is very student centered. While serving in the military I was afforded the opportunity to attend several institutions such as the University of Chaminade, Wayland Baptist University, and the University of Phoenix. After my separation from the military I attended Central Arizona College and then transferred back to the University of Phoenix. A Little Bit About Me...

Each individual is different. Therefore, you have to know the person first in order to apply a teaching style. Age, gender, and subject matter are some elements that influence how a person learns. Some people learn visually, some people learn by practicing, some people don't want to learn. My style varies according to the individual and what he or she likes or dislikes. As a tutor my role can be from formal authority, demonstrator, facilitator and delegator. Key elements in the classroom: 1) facilitate interaction and 2) delivery of the content to student.
