My comments on tutoring Algebra II : I took Algebra II in high school and partially in college as part of a college algebra class. I received a very good grade in college as well as high school.

What I try to do first is get the student to work out the problem, and as they are doing that I will work the problem as well. We will go over our answers together so I have a chance to explain the problem to the student. I believe that repitition and practice makes perfect as long as you have someone to explain it along the way. I will thoroughly explain the problem to the student if they don't understand it. By the end I would hope that the student could then explain how to do the problem to me.
I am now a sophomore at Germanna Community College. I have taken Algebra, Biology, English, Contemporary Mathematics, and various psychology courses. Post-pubescent persons have a great capacity to learn abstract material; all that is necessary to open that potential is to motivate them. I do not specialize in that motivation.
