Early Childhood Education Major Experienced in Tutoring

I believe in structured education while leaving plenty of room to facilitate learning through creativity and exploration. My teaching style is flexible. Students learn in different ways and at different paces. It is my job to discover how the students learn and what they respond best to. For some subjects, repetition is very important and for others a clearer understanding of the concepts involved is more valuable. I like to start with small skills and build on them.
I have taught two years of middle school and home schooled my daughter. I have worked as a substitute teacher on and off for several years. My emphasis in college was English and Math so I feel very comfortable teaching either of these subjects as well as reading.

All students learn at different levels. I like to incorporate all the learning styles of students. Some learn by hands-on, others by listening, and some by writing. These are all used by me. Each student has their own learning style and a teacher has to help each find what works for each student and then incorporate this to meet the needs for that particular student. Education cannot be mass-produced. One style does not fit all. Reading is extremely important to the success of a student. Education is the most valuable tool and weapon to get out of poverty; and it is something no one can ever take away from you.

A Little Bit About Me...

As an educator, I have been given the opportunity to teach a diverse group of learners, economically, physically, and mentally. I earned a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education and a Masters in School Library Media. I have served on various committees during my career. Being a second year teacher, I was chosen to go to NASA as part of a grant experience and received classroom training from certified NASA employees. As a third year teacher, I, along with the other 4th grade teacher, were recognized by the Governor of Georgia and State Superintendent as being in the top ten percent of increased reading and math scores on the CRCT in the state.
