My comments on tutoring Saxophone : I have been playing the Alto Saxophone for 12 years. I have also played in that time the Baritone saxophone as well. I played in the wind ensemble at Fresno Pacific for two years. I am not experienced in jazz.

I tutor not for facts, but for concepts and how everything fits into the "big picture."
I have been a tutor for over four years. I enjoy tutoring and teaching a variety of subjects to whoever wants to learn. Learning for the sake of learning is one of the most important things I have learned in college and that is how I apply myself to tutoring. School should not be about just memorization; it should be about learning for the sake of learning.

I am a very down to earth person especially when it comes to kids. I always try to lighten up the mood and make learning things interesting and fun. I don't like to dismiss when I see a child having trouble in something. Every person has a different way of learning, I try to cater to each of their needs.
I have tutored children in reading last summer. It was one of the most gratifying things I have done. I worked with English as second language children ranging from ages 5 to 13. We used a lesson plan and several activities to help children in achieving their reading level goals. Also, in my undergrad experience, I excelled in writing and was very good with meeting deadlines.

It is my belief that teaching is an honor and a passion, not a profession. Everyone has a different learning style and teaching to an individual is very important. I also believe that teaching is as much a method of guidance as much as it is a method of instruction. Often times, students will learn on their own if you give them the opportunity for exploration. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is very unique. I start off by just getting to know the student and having them get to know and trust me. I then build on that trust factor while helping the students with their homework. I connect well with students and they trust me. In the end, it seems to be the best way the students I work with learn and finish their work. Learning should be fun and not boring. It should be interactive and not just book work. If a student can experience learning first hand, they're bound to acquire enough knowledge to help them succeed.
I am a Fresno State graduate with my BA Degree in Liberal Studies. I'm currently in the Multiple-Subject Credential Program.
