After earning a bachelor's degreee in Psychology and receiving my Elementary Education certification at Gonzaga University in 2007, I worked at Mario Umana Middle School Academy teaching environmental education in Boston. I currently work as a teacher's assistant in a Supported Learning Center program for students with Asperger’s Syndrome. I work one-on-one with high school students in the program, assisting them with work in math, science, English and social studies. Additionally, when I was in high school, I worked as a math tutor for algebra students. I have a degree in Math and I am currently 3/4 complete for a Masters in Elem. Education w/Certif. I have been a substitute teacher for 2 years, w/1 long term sub teaching position of 3 mos at the elem level, and 1 long term sub position of 6 wks at the high school level in Algebra, Geometry, and Advanced Geometry. I have 4 children who have all taken advanced Mathematics classes, with my occasional assistance. I love working with children. I believe that all child can learn. Some may need different way or even different materials to find academic success. I think of myself as a facilitator in the child"s learning. This is a learner-centered teaching style that is very compatible with teaching children of all ages.
I have earned two bachelor degrees, BA in Elementary Education and BA in Special Education-MR, LD, ED, which has enabled me to gain an understanding of children with special needs.
