I believe that happy people not only learn faster, but they also retain more. Far too much of our kids' lives are spent cooped up indoors. Therefore, I like to take an open-door approach to learning and like to schedule as many sessions as possible out of the house/library/etc. Each session is guaranteed to be filled with fun learning experiences that the pupil will be sure to remember. A session with a child that needs reading/spelling/comprehension, for instance, could very well be done at the zoo. I want my kids to learn, and have fun doing it! A Little Bit About Me...

I have been tutoring professional for six years and teaching for five. I am certified by the state of Tennessee to teach secondary math. A Little Bit About Me...

Reading and writing are, and have always been, enjoyable for me. However, I know that a lot of people do not feel the same way. For math problems, I usually work problems and explain each step, and then have the student attempt to work a similiar one when they feel like they understand the problems. I try to be as helpful as possible while still focusing on the goal of total understanding for the student, as well as the ability to work a similiar problem independently with confidence. For paper writing, I would have the student brainstorm some ideas, and then together we could discuss the pro's and con's of the topic and organization choice, and provide tips on how we could better the assignment. I am willing to give as much or as little help as a parent would prefer, as good grades are one goal but the students mastery of the material is the most important.
