I hold a BA and an MA in English from Central Washington University, and I have studied extensively in philosophy and religious studies. Because of my training in English, I have gained advanced experience in professional, academic, and creative writing. I have acquired extensive research skills, and my studies have equipped me with a deep understanding of multiple perspectives and ideas and communicate them effectively. For five years I have taught English at Yakima Valley Community College, CWU, and Heritage University. I have been able to teach writing, critical thinking, analyzing skills, and rhetoric to a diverse mix of students, and I have also served as an academic advisor to guide them in their college career.

More About This Tutor...

It is important for a teacher to be able to mold their instruction to fit different individuals. It is this student diversity that makes tutoring such a valuable practice at the secondary level. No two students learn in the same way or at the same speed. I value being able to focus on one student at time so that I can discover how to best facilitate the transfer of knowledge and help that student to 'learn how to learn' by applying individualized learning techniques. Often, I can best begin to reach the student by identifying their personal interest, and using these interests as themes for homework examples. Being able to apply their lessons to their own lives is an essential learning tool.
I have earned two bachelor degrees, BM in Music and BA in English. Having a high level of ambition and love for learning, I chose to continue on to obtain my Masters in Literature. To this I hav ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have earned a bachelor of science degree in General Science, which means I have a very good understanding of many topics including: Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Computers, and Arts. I have experience in being a leader of 10-16 people in the military as an officer. I enjoyed teaching people of their oppurtunities in furthering their education. During late nights I tutored friends in Calculus and Biology.
We all have different views, and I would like to find that gateway into the minds of children so that they can see and understand more. I use different methods for each individual. It depends on each person what they like and want in order to find the motivation in themselves. It is satisfying to see people realize that they can achieve more than they first thought.
