Experienced. Effective. The logical choice.

As a tutor of student athletes at Indiana University, I tutored students from all walks of life. I began by tutoring Biology and Spanish but the need for tutors in English, Writing, Chemistry and Statistics soon arose and I stepped up to fill those positions. Using previous knowledge from AP classes in high school, as well as recent knowledge gained from my classes, I was able to successfully convey new information in easy to understand and applicable terms to these students. This past year I tutored high school math, English and Genetics.
I have always enjoyed teaching others sharing my love of learning. I find it most effective to use a variety of methods to successfully teach information. Material is best learned when it can be easily understood by the student and has practical applications for everyday life. I am not the type of tutor to just hand out answers to problems. A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught over 20 students during my undergraduate and graduate study. Most of the students that I have taught are engineering students who need help with the basic understanding of concepts and visualizing problems. The subjects that I normally teach are Chemical Engineering subjects, Engineering Physics, Chemistry and Basic Math classes. My wife teaches Computer Science, she possesses a Master's degree in Computer Science and has taught Java and C++ during her grad school. She has a good knowledge in programming and can help with beginner to intermediate level programming concepts.
I find out what exactly the student is lacking in the subject by asking a few basic questions on the topic and make a judgement of the student's understanding on the topic and then proceed forward. I normally explain the concepts in diagrams so that it makes it easier for the student to visual ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I began my career as an educator and I professionally taught in Colorado, Ohio, Texas and California. When working on my Ph.D in Educational Research at UCLA, I worked as a master teacher where I trained mathematics and science teachers in the Teacher Education program at UCLA. As an IBM employee, I trained other employees and worked as an instructor and curriculum and course designer. I also created educational conferences which consisted of multiple classes and presenters from around the world. As a Senior Manager at IBM, I provided training for managers. Throughout my career, I voluntarily tutored children and adults in multiple subject areas - mathematics, English, computer science, business acumen, and GED Preparation.
I tend to be enthusiastic about the subject matter I teach and that enthusiasm is contagious. My actual teaching style is based on four main factors: (1) t ... read more

While all my experience in teaching has been at the college level, I believe I could be effective as a tutor at all levels. As a tutor, it is important initially to assess the ability level of the student and then to construct a tutoring process that is aligned with that level. It is important to: (1) provide the student with all the proper theorems and formulas of the discipline; (2) introduce many different problem examples and explain their solutions; and, (3) assign the student problems to which they may apply what they have learned. A psychological principle of all learning is repetition and practice.
I have earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with minors in Mathematics/Zoology; a Master of Arts degree in Psychology with emphasis in Statistics; and a PhD in Education Administration with special emphasis in Statistical Measurement and Industrial/Organizational Psy ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I worked as a tutor while attending college. This opportunity provided an enormous amount of experience due to the fact that I tutored my peers. I developed techniques to separate the non-tutorial relationship in order to best help students. The department was short staffed which required me to provide assistance outside of my specialties of math and science. Developing quick learning techniques were essential in order to comprehend and then redescribe the learning objective with which the student needed help. I quickly developed a list of “clients” who would return frequently for help. I take a great deal of pride in my work and I am always looking for new techniques to add to my repertoire in order to instill a love for learning.
I am an energetic instructor. I find it is more enjoyable for the children and allows for them feed off my energy. I understand that sometimes a subje ... read more

I enjoy teaching and working with childrens. I remember of a handicapped student that I have tutored one year ago because he was late behind other students in his class. It was my first time to tutoring handicapped students. When his parents have called me to teach their son I didn't say no to them because I told myself that all children can learn but only in different ways. And I have started teaching him. During the first teaching I noticed he had really gaps and so I was more available, patient, easy going and considerate with him. And after two months already he has filled his gaps, and in third month we continued gradually. I am available to help your child find academic success.

I like breaking down complex problems into simple concepts. I believe that instead of telling students to memorize facts and concepts, it is better to give them practical applications of the subject matter. In my opinion, this gives them flexibility and complete understanding. It also helps them to further analyze the concepts and discover new things along the way. I encourage students to have plenty of hands-on exercises so they apply what they learn, and in the long-run, develop a confidence to rely on their problem solving skills.
