I am a computer teacher and technology coordinator at St. Mary's School in Taylorville, Illinois. I contrusted an after school and summer tutoring business in 2016 and have loved every minute. I tutor children of all ages. I have tutored students with speech apraxia, dyslexia, ADHD/ADD, learning disabilities, processing disorders, and IEPs. My experience in teaching is limited other than helping my brother-in-law with tutoring through algebra in college. I enjoyed it very much, and it was extremely fulfilling. I can tutor/teach various courses in math, business, engineering/construction technology, etc. I want to guide the student to figuring out the right answer themselves by demonstrating a problem for them, and having them work a similar one. I will be there step by step to offer direction in a very pleasant, easy going manner.

My background includes teaching at the elementary level and at the adult education level, especially literacy. I spent 10 years directing an adult literacy program where I trained volunteers to be tutors and tutored myself. During that time I took an intensive training course on working with people with learning disabilities. I have worked with ESOL students, as well. I believe that each child/adult has a learning style unique to them. Finding what works and what makes learning fun, to me, are critical to success, especially to struggling learners. Positive reinforcement and encouragement are critical, as well.
