I have never believed in or practiced the lecture as a form of instruction. Rather I apply a program of hands-on repetition, a "walk me through it" approach whereby the student demonstrates what has been retained and understood and where we need to apply some more time. I continually review what has been learned so everything stays current and fresh in the mind. I have found that most students retain more when humor is interjected through the instruction period and how what has been learned is applied to every day life. I believe that all children can learn, although in different ways, and I believe that given a bit of positive reinforcement and helping someone to believe in his/her abilities enables them to reach their potential. I am extremely patient, and realize that everyone has different ways of learning, and given the right encouragement, children are capable of achieving anything they set their minds to. As an honor student at the University of Texas at Arlington I was very much driven to achieve a high level of education. My teaching style is to teach the whole child.
