A Little Bit About Me...

I think that it is important to make sure that the student understands the concepts being learned in each subject rather than learning how to do one particular problem. Too often students forget the basics that they learned before because they thought that they were finished only to find that it comes up again in a more advanced subject. My goal is to get students to understand and apply the concepts to different situations other than the ones that are directly in front of them at the moment. I tend to push students to work hard and challenge them to think about the process instead of just giving answers.

Working as a High School English teacher for seven years, in Alternative Education, has greatly honed my skills in assisting students to excel. Teaching critical thinking skills to those struggling to grasp concepts, provides great benefit in every subject area. I have used my expertise in reading and writing to open doors for others as they begin to learn, in confidence, and strengthen their own skills.
