I have student teaching experience in the elementary school setting and was an middle school English teacher in South Korea for two years. I studied Elementary Education during my undergraduate. During this time, I was a student teacher on several different occasions. I assisted the home room teacher and independently planned and taught lessons to the students. I have worked with grades 1 to 5 as a student teacher. I enjoyed teaching and was a very passionate teacher, but I realized that work as a social worker would allow me to help my students on a more personal level. I like to get to know each individual and find out how they learn. From there I can figure out what will work for them and what won't. I have tutored individuals in grades 1-12 in various subject areas. I have been encouraged to pursue English, Writing, and Journalism as professions because of my talent in each area. I have tested at least 4 grade levels above my grade level since I began taking standardized tests. I have the ability to disect subjects in a way that makes learning fun and understandable.

All children can learn. When I meet a student there is never an issue of him or her being unable to improve. It is simply a matter of finding their motivation and highlighting their strengths. Unless a person feels that they can be successful they often give up, so I make it a point to raise student confidence while teaching new writing skills. Very few people are natural writers as it is a skill that must be developed. There are many different ways to do that, and none of them should be boring or painful; although all of them will take hard-work and a willingness to try new writing techniques. I believe making the information relevant to the student is important. I like to use humor and real-life examples to keep students engaged. I believe that it is important to know how the child learns to be able to present the material to them in the best manner for them which is what I would base my style on. I obtained Secondary Teacher Certification in Social Sciences. I taught high school and middle school Spanish for two and half years at public schools, and completed my student teaching at an alternative school for juvenile criminals. I have completed additional continuing education in working with gifted and special needs children.
