I began to realize my love and aptitude for tutoring as a volunteer Japanese instructor for the Daikin home-stay program in 2006. The next two years I volunteered my time with Rosie's International Services tutoring Spanish. At the beginning of the Spring 2008 semester, the Head of the Foreign Language Department, Dr. Maier, submitted my name to a tutoring department at UAH, where I worked tutoring Spanish, Japanese, Latin, Chinese, and English as a Second Language until I graduated in Spring 2010. History has taught me various skills and understandings that other fields may lack. Not only do I have excellent writing and reading skills, I am apt at thinking analytically. Also, my research skills are strong, regardless of the subject. I have also spent three years studying German in order to grasp the language and understand a foreign culture better. The time I spent tutoring was with first graders through the America Reads program and my college.
