I was involved with cartographic production and began learning the new field of remote sensing. I spent 1993-1994 in the southern African state of Lesotho where I was serving in the US Peace Corps. My interest is in a wide range of subjects, especially the interaction of humans with their environment. My passion is to teach and work with students of all levels and ages. Being and ASL teacher I must be dynamic and engaging as the instructor. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching and tutoring people in computer usage for over 20 years now. I also used to teach computer programming in the mid 80's. I have a good understanding of mathematics and physics.

I graduated in 2004 form Portland State University with a Social Sciene degree. I have been in teaching since 2008 when I passed my substitute teachers class. Since that time I subbed off and on until January 2010 when I got a long term assignment In the ALC at Hilo High School. I thought English, Math and really learned a lot through my experience. A Little Bit About Me...

Much of my teaching style I learned while at Apple Computer in one on one computer teaching sessions. I tend to be a very enthusiastic and encouraging anyway, but Apple taught me an additional patience and a lead-learning-out teaching style that promotes self-discovery and avoids simply giving answers. Though it is geared towards adults, I have since found that adapting the patent and deliberate pace of LLO teaching to the learning level of younger children is effective and fun for both myself and the student.
