I think lots of modeling and review of the concepts being taught is essential. I want the student to observe the modeling and then for me to guide them through the learning of the concepts. Students should be fully engaged in order to gain a full understanding.
I have been tutoring all subjects K-8 for over 15 years. I am a certified teacher and currently teach 6th grade. I worked at Sylvan Learning Center for over a year before becoming a private tutor. My comments on tutoring Literature : Highly qualified to teach English literature, specifically British and Irish literature, but also American literature. I curated an exhibition at the Spencer Museum of Art (KU) titled "That Invisible Dance: British and Irish Art and Literature from the 1800s to the present" - it was highly successful and a voluntary project. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always enjoyed working with children. I believe that having as many positive role-models as possible can really help to shape a student's outlook on not only their education, but how they will tackle problems and opportunities in their lives for a long time.
