I have a relaxed, stress-free teaching style, while staying on task and topic. I make sure the pupils really understand the material by breaking things down to the basics, and reviewing the foundations. My approach to tutoring is to first find which specific area is causing each individual problems. Once we work on that area and master the concepts, I will then go back an work with each student to figure out a study strategy that will work for them long term. The goal is for them to be able to be successful on their own in their studies so they no longer need me! My comments on tutoring Life Science : BS in biology graduated Summa Cum Laude UT San Antonio. Graduated top honors medical school. 2 YEARS surgical/medical resident training. Have treated thousands of patients and had to utilize knowledge of life science on a day to day basis for years.

Having fun is a requirement. Learning in an environment where stress is taken out of the equation is paramount to retention of knowledge and key to success. I utilize anecdotal methods to convey concepts so that a student can relate the knowledge to how it fits into their own life or past experience.I try to get around rote learning when possible. However, when pure memorization is unavoidable, I have methods to incorporate that are tried and true and still hinge on the foundation of using anecdot. See one, do one, teach one is also another way I like to use. The student sees/learns, then does/uses what they've learned, and finally teaches the information back to me and/or someone else.
