I believe all children are born with the same amount of human potential. However, I’m disheartened by what I’ve witnessed in Mississippi’s public schools: that many children are failing to read at grade level. They are often “left behind.” My approach to teaching is driven by my belief that all children can learn if given the cognitive stimulation coupled with a nurturing, learning environment. I know that children are eager to know, understand, and discern. I believe teachers should not disseminate facts; instead they should cultivate the desire for knowledge. I love to learn, and love passing that on to others. I am a patient personality, and I may present a problem to a student to evaluate where they are. From there, we can go either backwards or to more advanced work. Education is very important for myself and for my children, and I like to instill that learning takes you further in life than where someone may have not even dreamed. I am amazed at seeing cashiers who can't make simple change, or someone who can't calculate a small percentage in their head, such as 10% of a number. I want children to learn and have a feel-good attitude with their accomplishments.

I substituted after graduation and realized I loved teaching. In college I was asked to tutor for my instructors. My classmates came over to my house to study. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ole Miss in 99'. I taught 2nd and 5th grade before going to Falkner to teach Special Ed. in grades 9-12. I helped prepare students for state tests. I co-taught in Eng. and Alg. I also taught MS Studies, W.Geog., U.S. History, Drama, Eng. II, U.S. History, Journalism, Tutorial and ACT prep also. I have experience in math and science as well.
