I began tutoring privately,as well as,for my school's learning center during the early 1990's. I have continued tutoring privately on and off for the past twenty years. I was a substitute teacher in California and Michigan during the 2000's. I also had my own high school level classroom in California for two school years. I was hired on an "Emergency Credential" because I had my BS but no teaching credential. I was laid off due to budget cuts in June of 2003. A Little Bit About Me...

As a teacher, I aim to perpetuate knowledge and inspire learning. More specifically, as a biologist I present the material with enthusiasm and point to its relevance in everyday life. Students respond better to learning something that impacts their lives rather than random facts. While teaching general biology, I noticed that several students would come into class assuming that they were unable to learn anything scientific. Students get overwhelmed with scientific jargon and spend too much time trying to memorize facts rather than learning processes.
