A Little Bit About Me...

Having parents that place a great emphasis in achieving higher education, I graduated from high school with the age of 15 years old and was accepted in National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, for the degree in Life Science Biology. While studying in Taiwan,I offered individual tutoring in Spanish and English for college students and adults who wanted to improve their knowledge on the language. After two years of studying in Taiwan, I decided to expand my horizons in education and applied for Brigham Young University Hawaii for the major of Psychology.During the time I spent studying in Brigham Young University Hawaii, I worked for the Counseling Department as tutor for a variety of subjects from Foreign Languages (such as Chinese and Spanish) to General Education (such as Psychology, Biology, History, Art, etc). Learning Can be Fun!

I like to allow the student to read the material once and clarity any areas that need more explanation. Then I will allow them to answer questions from the material read and help them where needed to choose the correct answer and understand the reason for the answers. I like to reward a certain level of correct answers with points that can be redeemed for interesting small prizes. I also consider myself very patient and interested in the student having a strong foundation for future learning.
I have tutored children in group and individual piano lessons. I have tutored them in math and social studies. I have spent over 20 years in business in the accounting field and prepared countless financial statements and income tax returns. I am skilled in all things mathematical. I also speak Spanish through over 9 years of instruction.

I'm currently a senior attending Winter Park High School. I have a slew of education and extracurricular related accolades, and have been commended highly for my skills in writing (both creative and professional). My transcript has a long history of Advanced Placement courses and my standardized exam scores are impressive to say the least least (30 ACT, 1800 SAT, multiple AP Exam credits).
I actually don't have much experience as a tutor beyond helping classmates study, however throughout my experience in high school I've experimented with and adopted many avant-garde and unorthodox studying techniques and thought processes that have served gratuitously to my benefit, and I'm positive will serve yours as well.

A Little Bit About Me...

My belief is in the child. I am extremely patient and loving. The child sets the pace at which we learn and we would not move on to the next subject until the child completely understands the material.

I have tutored since I was in 8th grade. I love helping out and eventually I would love to be a tutor full time. Teaching other children on how to do different subjects makes me feel very happy that I am able to help them become successful in a subject that is very hard for them. I am willing to take all the time in the world for the student to make sure that they fully understand the topic that we are discussing.

15 years experience in a broad variety of subjects!

I have been tutoring for over 15 years both in students homes or at public locations such as coffee shops or the public library. My education and experience are broad. I was educated at "Ivy League" level schools and purposefully educated myself in a large variety of the humanities, which in essence all tie together. Basic courses up through most High School material outside of the Humanities are not difficult. Actually, while my education has been primarily in the Humanities, the material I see the most in tutoring is Algebra and Geometry!
I have a way of perceiving the difficulty the student has, and am able to explain the material in a simple way that makes it easy for students to grasp. I have a good rapport with my student and have had several that have told me that I am the best teacher they have ever had(which didn't hurt my ego!!) I also have a good sense of humor whic ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I have been teaching in the classroom for about 16 years. Areas of teaching experience has been Language Arts, History, Geography, and now Personal Character Development to High School Seniors about to graduate. I have also tutored in every subject listed above. I simply love to teach, and am very good at it. It, I believe, is a life calling, and according to Abraham Mazlow's Hierarchy of Needs, is something I was born to do. I have had middle, high school, and adult students within my classroom milieu, and look forward to continuing my career in education.
I love teaching, and working with students. Everyone can learn, and the educator is ultimately responsible to providing multiple styles of learning for students to discover and connect to learning. Tutorial enrichment through remediation is most important for students to grasp and exhibit mastery over certain strands and ... read more

I graduated college from USF and was immediately hired to teach intensive reading at the elementary level. I was trained by Susan Hall and the 95 Percent Group, and taught direct instruction intervention for a year and a half. For the past ten months, I was a wilderness counselor with Eckerd Youth Alternatives. I would regularly help 'my' kids with their schoolwork in reading and math up through early algebra one. My tutoring experience is mainly in elementary reading, and I'm comfortable with and able to tutor math through the middle school level.
Teaching is an absolute passion of mine; I can't help but to further knowledge and education of our young people. I ask kids questions about their work so I can see their thought process. If they give me a wrong answer, I ask for them to back their answer up. I find that helping them work through the work is much more effective t ... read more

A teacher needs to be patient, dedicated, and caring with students. These are all qualities I possess, and I work my hardest to ensure that children I work with are progressing academically. I am knowledgeable on different learning styles and am aware of the fact that each child learns in a unique way. I like to come up with creative ways to make learning material interesting and fun for students. I am also trained in a variety of memory and study techniques that I share with students to enhance their learning and test taking.
I received my BA in Psychology from the University of Central Florida, with a 4.0 GPA. I began mentoring youth with the Key Club during my sophomore year in high school, and I have been volunteering with multiple agencies since then. I enjoy teaching children and am knowledgeable in several subjects, with science being my strongest. As a Junior Achieve ... read more

Teaching is very rewarding to me because I love the feeling I get from knowing that I have made a real and positive impact in someone's education and life. Understandably, learning new ideas or skills can be incredibly daunting to children, teenagers, and young adults alike, but I think that this is where I have a real knack for teaching. Not only am I patient, friendly, and thoughtful, I have the ability to reduce a complicated topic or problem into more easily defined parts. By attacking a problem in this manner, I allow the student to follow my lead, while learning a method by which to solve future problems. This ensures that the student is thinking creatively, critically, and analytically, for himself or herself. My goal is to provide him or her with self-confidence and to make learning fun for the student, so that he or she can reach his or her potential.
For many years, ... read more
