It is important to me that all children reach their best potential in whatever grade I am teaching. I have been in the teaching profession for 20 years and each day brings something different. Although, I came from a family of medical and science background, I have always wanted to teach and after 20 years, I am glad to say that I chose this profession. My teaching style would best be described as finding the best methods to help students learn a subject and then using them. No two students are exactly alike so why teach them that way?

A Little Bit About Me...

I recently received my Bachelors degree in High School Ed with a focus on social studies and I am currently in the process of receiving a Bachelors in history at the end of this semester as well. I also am enrolled in the Graduate program at Lourdes to receive my endorsement to teach K-12 Reading. I also was a certified child care administrator for the YMCA for 6 months in 2006 but had to step down due to my student teaching responsibilities.
Very hands on with a strict demeanor initially that I relax as I gain my students mutual respect. I believe in differentiating instruction as every student learns and retains information in different ways and the best way, in my mind, to teach a student is by covering as many of the multiple intelligences as possible with a focus on that particular students specific strengths and learning style.

The sections averaged 40 undergraduate students of various ages and I enjoyed sharing my love of history and literature with them. This gives me the opportunity to identify possible gaps in their knowledge and to fill in those gaps. I also try to relate covered material to historical events. I beieve that learning comes about through constant questioning. The student needs to review where they are now and then be led through the new material by small steps. The student then needs to step back and review the connections between these steps. When the student begins to see the logic of mathematics the easier it is to retain the material.
