My teaching style is one of friendly leadership. Working through problems or lessons with the student by leading them through it, then working it with them side by side while explaining the details helps them achieve the accomplishment of learning without making them feel as if they were just instructed how to do it. Helping a student learn is more than just teaching them a lesson in math, science, or English; it’s about being someone that they can look up to as a role model, being someone that they can learn from in more than just an academic manner, and being someone who is there for them when they need something. I have experience in every level of student. My first degree (A.S.) was in Engineering and I worked at higher level math, including a college Teacher's Assistant in Calculus. I went on to obtain a B.S. in Education. I took the coursework for Middle and High School endorsements in 4 other subject areas. I work in Remedial Education at a local university currently. I have always believed everyone can learn and everyone has different learning styles. Finding what works for the student is often the key to life-long success. I graduated from Huntington University in 2008 with a BS in Business Management as well as Finance. Along with being a double-major, I also minored in Accounting. I was able to complete my studies in just four years. I am currently pursuing a Master's in Business Administration and have recently transferred from Strayer University in Raleigh, NC to Taylor's MBA program. I always enjoyed helping my fellow classmates with their homework and with any questions. I was the first to help out a struggling student and to make sure they shared my level of understanding. I also was the first to receive tutoring if I ever felt I did not have a complete grasp on a subject. I believe a good tutor is one who not only enjoys giving help but knows when they need it as well. During my life I have worked in several types of businesses in which I would usually advance to becoming the lead person, teacher to the ones working below me. Micro welding had to teach others how to set machines and run them. I built parts which went to the moon, had to teach the others how they were made. Owned an upholstery business and taught people how to sew, cut, and hang the materials on the furniture. I helped my sons and later my granddaughters with home work. The information is used to identify areas of literacy strength, as well as areas of need. I design and implement differentiated one-on-one instruction based on individual student needs, and conduct formative assessments regularly to determine student progress to share this information with the parents and schools.
