My comments on tutoring Political Science : I am certified to teach political science and have provided tutoring in this area in the past.

My teaching style consists of a combination of direct instruction, active student participation, and frequent and differentiated assessment. I begin by presenting students with the information they will need to know for the unit that they are studying. I do this through the use of PowerPoint presentations, the SmartBoard, and video clips. I will often stop at several points throughout the lesson to see if students have any questions. I will also make sure that they are paying attention and will ask them questions about information they just learned, so I expect them to be paying attention and taking notes. A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored many people in several subjects over the years and find the work fulfilling. I recently have graduated out of the education system and am well aware of what it takes to succeed. I now have a BA in Political Science and a Juris Doctorate and on the way to earning these degrees I successfully passed some of the worlds most difficult tests on the first attempt. I have been tutoring for many years with different kinds of children. To begin with, I tutored my younger sister starting when she was about seven years old to age twelve or thirteen. In high school, I also volunteered for an after-school program for Hispanic children ages seven-twelve where I helped them with their homework in various subjects. As a youth mentor with YouthFriends, I have worked one-on-one with students in reading and general life skills. I am current enrolled in Rockhurst University's Master in Education program to obtain a degree and elementary teaching certificate. I have completed over 25 graduate course hours that include methods in teaching math and science. Over the course of my career, I have taught at just about every level, from middle school to graduate school. A Little Bit About Me...

I came to teaching as a second career when I realized I was not happy in local politics. I earned a degree in Secondary Education with English certification grades 5-12. I have taught in rural as well as urban schools and schools in between. I have a strong command of grammar and reading comprehension skills. I have lead students in debate teams as well.
I am very straightforward in my style. I really enjoy doing things my way and seeing how the student responds. If the response is not positive then I modify and try again until we get it right. I am very much an auditory person myself so I am very verbal and love to talk things through.
