I love art and feel very strongly that it should be a very important part of everyone's education. Students are anxious to actively participate. I do a demonstration while I lecture on a particular point, i.e., perspective, form, light, color theory, etc., then let them have time to execute a given assignment in class. At this point I give them personal attention. I have a "critque" at the end of the session and have them participate. I require constructive comments so as not to discourage anyone and to promote the notion that everyone has a unique and valuable point of view . Homework is assigned and I ask students to keep a sketchbook, which should be drawn in daily. I ask to see these ungraded books intermittently throughout the course.

A Little Bit About Me...

I currently have my California substitute teaching credential. I have worked previously for Placed County Office of Education and Yuba County Office of Education, substitute teaching. I currently work for Paradise Oaks Youth Services as a residential counselor, specifically on the 7 to 3 shift, tutoring the kids to help them complete their individual school program. At Paradise Oaks Youth services I work with emotionally disturbed teenage boys, but as a substitute teacher, I worked K12 and special education. My bachelors degree is in Applied Computer Graphics, and my Masters is in Forensic Psychology (to be completed February 2011). I plan on continuing my education to the doctoral level.
