A Little Bit About Me...

I like to teach students in a way that they can relate to. Talk to them about their futures and what they would like to be when they grow up or when they graduate. I like to propose real life situations where they might have to or need to use math. I like to get to know them and learn about their interests and help them see how a certain subject could help them. I believe its about getting on their same level, gaining their respect and having them being comfortable with you. I have a proven track record of helping students succeed and having a different outlook on learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

It is very important for me that each student can understand what I'm explaning, this is why I use different types of methods to help them visualize and understand my explanations. For each student I used to prepare sketches, brainstorms and flashcards. When it comes to math or sciences courses I had a white board for the equations. Also, I use, as examples and comparisons, things that they do frequently for better and fast comprehension and understanding.
During my high school and colleges years I enjoyed helping my peers in different courses, noticing that I'm really good when it comes to teach. So, I decided to offer my services as a tutor for all types of courses for school student (from elementary to high school) and for college students that were taking courses I already have taken. I do not have one teaching style. Just as people have individual learning styles, I adapt my teaching style to the student and to the course that I would be tutoring. It is important that all students graduate with all the knowledge, skills, abilities, and values to have a happy and productive life. In order to have this happen, I do not believe that one teaching style fits all. As a tutor I would show my students how to properly do a task, and then I will help them master the task. It is important the student understand and can independently demonstrate what they have learned. No matter what teaching style I use, it will be a style that would be interesting and encourage the student to participation, and to ask for help.
The scope of my teaching experience is non-traditional teachings. I taught middle school girls and adults in craft courses. While my children were in ... read more
