While at Humboldt State, I completed the College Faculty Preparation Program. This program significantly improved my teaching pedagogy. With regards to tutoring, I feel that it is extremely important to understand and draw on the student’s learning style. As a kinesthetic learner, I frequently promote tactile learning while also introducing elements of visual, auditory, and/or reading/writing exercises, depending on what works best for the student. I’m patient and considerate but feel that it is important to set high expectations for each of my students.
Education has always been my passion. While earning my Bachelor's degree at the University of California, Santa Cruz, I was approached by a professor and asked to work as a teaching assistant with her graduate (M.A. and Ph.D. level) students.
