A Little Bit About Me...

I adapt my style to whatever suits the student the best. I will work hard to help the student relate to the material in a personal way, so that it is meaningful to them rather than simple memorization. My goal is to help the person become an independent and critical thinker; skills that are not generally taught, but are crucial for their future success. I then search for a passion, and then use that passion to teach any other subjects they may be deficient in. Each student requires a different approach at different times. Sometimes a documentary will be the best way to convey an idea or find something that may excite them. Pouring over texts and solving hundreds of math problems will not help someone *CARE* about what they are learning, or help them understand *WHY* it is important that they know something.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have earned a bachelor’s and a master’s in English from New Mexico State University, which enabled me to increase my knowledge of grammar and rhetoric. While pursuing my degree I worked as a substitute teacher for the Las Cruces School District during the 2005-2006 school year. During this time I taught a variety of subjects for grades 6-12 and learned from various teachers how to best interact with students. I finished my associate’s degree in 1 year. The day I graduated I was asked to join the faculty of the community college. I taught there for 3 years and reached the highest academic rank available to me. In addition to the technical skills required of drafters, and renderers, I bring a high level of artistic training, graphics arts experience and design drafting expertise with me and I use all of it for the benefit of my students
