After receiving my BS I taught high school English for nine years in Vermont and Massachusetts. I earned my MED in 1985 and served as an administrator at both the high school and elementary school levels. I've taught emotionally disturbed children and middle school ESL students in Santa Fe. Most recently I have been tutoring elementary students in language arts and math. For the past five years I've also tutored language arts and math to 1st grade through middle school students after school. My teaching style is to make learning fun. I like to bring materials to the lesson that match a student's interest and still build necessary skills. My middle school students became experts at poetry and grammar with daily competitions. Practice is imperative to learning, is my theory, and the key to the success I've had with students.

I finished my associate’s degree in 1 year. The day I graduated I was asked to join the faculty of the community college. I taught there for 3 years and reached the highest academic rank available to me. In addition to the technical skills required of drafters, and renderers, I bring a high level of artistic training, graphics arts experience and design drafting expertise with me and I use all of it for the benefit of my students I have taught widely varying subjects to many kinds of students. I am best when my students have anxieties about their work. I can always find a way to give the individual student or a classroom full of students ownership over the tasks at hand. That is, I can help them begin to learn and to develop a lifelong practice of learning.

On a school level basis, I personally have a child with ADHD that I tutor at home. I am especially proficient in English/Language Arts. My research and writing skills are exceptionally keen due to the number of research papers and job related inquiries I perform. My current job involves auditing of financial records, therefore I am exceptionally precise and would not object to tutoring in elementary math. I have tutored family members in English, science, mathematics, and history. My teaching style is very flexible. Because I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults, the ability to adapt to the learner's ability level is especially important.
