A Little Bit About Me...

I have earned a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Literature. Through the course of my studies, I have gained strong written and oral communication skills. I was called upon to write many types of papers throughout the course of my education, including research papers and essays. During the last 6 years, I have tutored students in English, Psychology and I have also taught Music.
I enjoy working with individuals to meet their educational goals. I feel all children can learn, it may jsut be a matter of finding the right style of learning. While pursuing my Master of Arts at Ohio University, I worked as a long-term substitute teacher as a Title 1 Reading Specialist. I enjoyed this work immensely and focused on grades 1-5. In these tri-weekly sessions, we practiced our reading skills and built our vocabulary. During the 2008-2009 school year, I tutored 4th & 5th graders in reading at IPS #78. I worked at LearningRX as a cognitive skills trainer where I worked with students who were having difficulty in school and I was able to find their areas of difficulty and help build those areas up while also helping with their memory, visual acuity, and processing speed.
I like to have a relationship with the students I tutored where they feel comfortable with me; I want them to be able to tell me the problems they're having with the work and what I can do to help. I like to be friendly with them while still being an authority figure where they want to do their best. I think this type of relationship allows me to push the students to their maximum limit without discouraging them when we're having a difficult session.

Most of my career has been spent in the field of Information Services working as a business analyst and a project manager.
