A Little Bit About Me...

As a pre-service teacher, I am constantly preparing to become an excellent educator. My degree is in Elementary Education with an emphasis on Children's Studies and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL). I have endorsements in language arts, science, and social sciences. Through clinical placements I have observed, tutored, and taught in two elementary classrooms. I have also tutored in math, reading, and ESL and I have experience working with children with special needs. A Little Bit About Me...

I feel that each child needs to feel appreciated and successful. My sessions include, of course, language, music, or speech, but I also work in philosophy, history, and technology. I feel that students of today are not receiving as much well rounded education as they desire, or need, for the future workplace or self-satisfaction. My students not only feel that they are learning a language or how to play and instrument, but that they are acquiring real world skills that will help them succeed in whatever field they choose. I hope to bring my love and passion toward languages and music to all students, so that they too can share in the excitement, brain-boosting energy, and fun that these fields can offer.

More About This Tutor...

I believe making the information relevant to the student is important. I like to use humor and real-life examples to keep students engaged. I believe that it is important to know how the child learns to be able to present the material to them in the best manner for them which is what I would base my style on.
I obtained Secondary Teacher Certification in Social Sciences. I taught high school and middle school Spanish for two and half years at public schools, and completed my student teaching at an alternative school for juvenile criminals. I was an at home teacher for my school district when children were out for extended periods due to illness. I have completed additional continuing education in working with gifted and special needs children. I enjoy sharing my passion for learning with others and love to see the “light” come on when a student finally understands a concept.
