My teaching style is to lead the student into an understanding of the material through discussion, hands-on projects, practice and mastery. It is important to master the previous material before moving on to the new. It is also important to relate new topics to what the student already knows. This helps the student to not only understand it better but also to remember it better and use it correctly. I am patient and creative in finding ways to present ideas in ways that will connect with real life. I believe that all children can learn, given the right methods and the willingness to learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

For the past 18 years, I have held various instructor positions in both the Active and Reserve components of the Army, providing instruction in such areas as Anatomy & Physiology, Biology, Surgical Technique, Emergency Medicine, Combat Lifesaver and Sterile Processing. My extensive work in medicine as a surgical first assistant and instructor gave me a unique insight into the inner workings of the human body, in both the civilian as well as the military sectors. A Little Bit About Me...

As an Americorp participant during my early college years I learned of the many joys that teaching can give. I have a BS in general studies and very close to a BS in psychology, criminal justice, and English. I have taught at a college for 3 years, substituted for various school districts for 2, and I am currently finishing a full-time jr. High teaching position at Immanuel Christian School.
I love one on one or small class sizes. Each child is so different in their own way and each have such a different learning style that I like to take it slow and be personal with each student. In my years of experience I have learned how to make learning fun. I love to include humor and everyday examples when I teach. Children are amazing and after all our future.

Too many students these days give up too easily when their studies get a little challenging.
