Don't risk your grade/money on mere paper qualifications

My teaching style relies heavily on feedback from the client. I try to have a phone call with a student to learn what they are having difficulty with but also what their professor might expect from them. Then I get a good sense of their personality to understand the best way to get ideas across to them. There are often roadblocks to learning such as personal hangups or self doubt that must be addressed. Other times it is just a matter of understanding what the person does or does not get.
You will see many ads by former or current professors trying to make a buck on the side. They are terrible tutors - they spent their whole careers having students beg them for a better grade. My teaching style is tailored to the individual. The first thing I do when I'm trying to teach someone something is determine their learning style. If they don't know it I help them figure it out. I do find that most people learn best by diving in and doing it themselves first, while I serve as a "safety net". Whenever I was teaching new helmsmen or junior officers how to steer survey lines, I would direct them how to do it the first few times, and then when they felt ready to try it themselves, I stood back and let them, not stepping in until the absolute last second. Letting them make and try to correct their own mistakes seemed to be the best teaching tool I had.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have earned a BS in Computer Science, with a very strong math minor. It would have been a double major, but third-year theoretical math stopped being fun (and computers were still fun). However, math up to and including first year calculus was both straightforward and mostly fun. I have worked with computers, systems administration and programming, since graduation, but I have lost none of the math I learned as high as high school algebra and geometry and basic calculus.
I enjoy teaching and explaining many things to individuals and small groups, of all ages, although my tutoring experience is somewhat limited. A year ago, I had the honor of substituting as an Assistant Teacher with an amazing kindergarten teacher. I learned then that she maintains her respect and passion for her career by following this mantra: "I need to understand my students come to me in the morning having already experienced some kind of morning of their own at home. I don’t know what that morning was like, but I can tell when it’s been a bad one.
