Brooke V - Coralville, IA 52241 (38.1 mi) - Spanish Tutor - $33.00/hr.
I cannot think of anything more rewarding than teaching and working with young people of all ages because of all that I can contribute to their lives. I strive to meet each student where they are, no matter what level, and yet meet the needs of the group as a whole. As I also believe that anyone can learn, my desire is to provide the best opportunities that I can so that they can realize their full potential and know that they are all important members of society who have something of their own to contribute and that I can learn from as well. As a graduate of Bethel University, I am currently pursuing a teaching career and am committed to excellence. While I was at Bethel, I earned two bachelor degrees, one in Creative Writing and one in Spanish. I assisted numerous friends by copy editing their essays, showing them where I saw they could improve while affirming where I saw their strengt

Sara M - Iowa City, IA 52240 (40.2 mi) - Spanish Tutor - $35.00/hr.
I tutor in a problem-solving manner. I assess weak areas and focus on improving cognition and reproduction in these areas. I help the child develop study skills that are important to success, such as routine formation and usage of flash cards and other study aids. During the last five years, I have tutored students in Latin, advanced high school Mathematics, high school Chemistry, and English. In addition to my tutoring experience, I taught Latin language and American History for one year in the parochial Terre Haute, IN school district.

Julia S - Grinnell, IA 50112 (43.1 mi) - Spanish Tutor - $35.00/hr.
I first started tutoring in high school, both privately and as a volunteer. My favorite subjects to tutor were Algebra and Calculus, though I also tutored Spanish, English, and Biology. I had several regular students and additional students during peak times like finals week and AP season. In college, I continued this work in a more formal setting as a lab assistant, teaching assistant, and tutor for the Grinnell College Science Learning Center. The subjects included CHM 130: General Chemistry and CHM 210: Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry. Tutoring is one of my favorite jobs. I really enjoy helping students understand that they absolutely can understand a subject, and the one-on-one, focused nature of tutoring fits my personality very well. I am encouraging and very patient, but no pushover: I realize that the best way for a student to remember a concept is to play an active role
