As part of my Undergraduate training, I participated in a summer internship in Meudon, France, where I worked in a French middle school for 6 weeks while staying with a French host family. During this time I was able to travel a bit around France and truly experience the culture and language first-hand. French is one of my top subjects! I have a B.A. in French from UNC-Chapel Hill and taught at the high school level in the Florida public schools. Over the years that I lived in Japan, I also taught French to college students, as well as tutoring French. I also have visited France a number of times.

I have a very relaxed style of teaching. Not so relaxed that there is not order in the classroom, but a style designed to put students at ease and to put them into a mood for learning. I encourage participation, active participation in class, and I encourage questions. I seek to explain so that students understand perfectly, and I will not give up until I am convinced that all have a grasp of the subject that I am teaching.
I have taught all subjects mentioned for a period of over 25 years, both in the United States and Japan. I received a teacher award in Japan for excellence in teaching.
