I search for the light bulb that hasn't yet gone off in my students. Rote memorization by my students just to get a grade doesn't satisfy me, although that happens with some. I thoroughly enjoy the intellectual challenge of trying to stimulate my students and interest them in the learning process. I probe; I question; I challenge; I confront. If the student doesn't "get it", then my first assumption is that I'm not doing something right, and I need to try again. I may fail, but not for lack of trying or interest!

A Little Bit About Me...

I wouldn't have a "professional" description for teaching style as my education was solidly based in the sciences. However, I believe that by teaching intuitive thought processes and critical thinking skills, students can easily adapt to the tasks given be they in science or liberal arts.
While planning for a career in medicine, I obtained a BS in biology with a minor in Chemistry. During the application and acceptance process I was an adjunct faculty member at a local technical college. My courses taught were remedial Algebra, biology, and anatomy and physiology. During the hours between classes I was a paid Tutor in the college's learning assistance center.

Since I've been tutoring, I have a saying that you already know what you know, so let's not worry about what you know but worry about what you don't know. I believe that everybody can relate to any subject if they can relate the subject to something the individual finds interesting. I am very patient and determined in not only helping a student find the answer but also wanting the student to know the method of finding the answer and being able to find the answer on their own in the future.
