A child's imagination is my lesson plan

I start with a couple simple video games that teach the basics, and then we follow our imaginations from there. The best project ideas come from a kid's mind and it can take us in any direction. I don't follow a set lesson plan, but have plenty of projects up my sleeve if they're needed.
I've been fascinated with computer programming since I was 8 and found a book about Fortran in my grandma's encyclopedia set. Our school had a handful of computers but no programmers. Tutoring my fellow classmates was an integral part of my college experience. At Yuba College, I tutored math and chemistry in the College Success Center for two school years. I was in demand, as even fellow tutors would seek my help. I was also requested by my physics professor to tutor physics in the Hard Math Cafe on campus. I started tutoring classmates in seventh grade and tutored friends in college in Trigonometry. I believe that most subjects are not difficult to master. Most problems come from "under learning" the subject. Repetition may work for some subjects, but with math the student needs to understand WHY a process works. Once this is learned, the rest comes rather easily. When the student takes for granted a way to solve a problem, they are lost when the problem is presented in a different way. But, if the student understands the WHY, the presentation of the problem does not matter.
