To be a lifeguard, one must first learn to swim, then learn different techniques, then continue to refine those techniques to build up stamina and speed. The same is true of mathematics. First one learns number sense, then algebra skills, then a deeper understanding through practice, as well as new and more challenging problems. Taking a student from their current knowledge base to a much broader and deeper understanding is what I like most about teaching. Every student is different, so they often take different paths to gain a fuller comprehension. I believe any student can succeed if they are willing to work through this process of gradual learning, connecting new concepts to their current experiences.

Hello, My experience includes, over 15 years of K-12 teaching in the classroom. I have also been a University Instructor in California for both a private and public university. I have a M.A. in Education and many years of teaching experience both in and out of the classroom. My experience includes tutoring individuals of all ages and all levels of learning. M
My teaching style would be described as being through discovery and collaboration. I wish to look at and discuss the areas of concern and then together will make a plan for success. My teaching style training comes from my years as an Outdoor Naturalist/interpreter and a public school teacher teaching science and math at a project-based multi-intelligences school.
