I have worked in the field of School Psychology for public schools in the state of Virginia. Most of my experience has been in rural areas where many different types of needs had to be handled by the Psychologist. Thus, I have had broad experience and training in the area of Special Education. I also worked in private practice and with other professionals which further broadened my skills. I retired in 2009 and moved to Tennessee to care for a family member. I miss contact with students, and feel I can help children who are struggling with school. I am currently a student at the university of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where I am majoring in early childhood education with a minor in speech pathology. I am working full time as the head aftercare teacher at hickory valley Christian school where I work with elementary school children. I have much experience in teaching, I am also a current tutor with the Honors program, working with four students ranging from 5th grade to freshman in college. I have earned a bachelors degree in Chemistry from East Tennessee State University. I have more than 100 hours of volunteer experience in all fields of area due to being in organizations like Alpha Phi Omega, Phi Sigma Pi and President's Pride throughout my college career. A Little Bit About Me...

My goal is to help each child reach his or her potential. The best way to do this, is to first identify the child's learning style. When this is defined, projects should be tailored to fit that style. I prefer to use a hands-on approach to any subject and present each idea being studied in numerous ways.
During the past two years, I have taught Medical Terminology at the college level. Previously, I wrote and presented workshops for early childhood education teachers.
