I completed my Masters at the University at Albany in Summer of 2013 in both Special Education and Literacy. After graduating college I taught elementary K-8th grade in NYC. I taught for one year and decided to live Paris, France teaching English. I lived in Paris, France for 1.5 years then moved to Rome, Italy, again teaching English. My experiences were wonderful as I met people who really enjoyed learning English and needed it for work. After 6 months I returned to the states and taught at a Junior High School on the Lower eastside of NYC. I left teaching after 10 years to market computers. My skills as an educator served me well and I did extremely well. After approximately 8 years I decided I wanted to go back to teaching, and have been teaching the use of computers. The best teaching style in my opinion, explains how to research, plan and write essays, gives students time to practice these skills in class, and ensures students get feedback on how well they have done on each sub-skill. Students learn skills by using them in a realistic, subject-specific context, and in a combined way. So they might use other skills taught before such as note taking, highlighting, all in context. The purpose of the skills are stressed, students are taught not just what to do and how, but also why. The students then reflect on how well they used the skills, what gains they were getting and so on, and then they action plan for improvement.

A Little Bit About Me...

As A recent graduate from a Liberal Arts School, I found it easy to connect with teaching as my calling. I have always driven for high levels of excellence in and outside the classroom and work force. Having an English and Philosphy background, I find it easy to critically think and annotate extensively works of literature. And from that I find that my skills are up to par due to writing research papers and annotating other people's work.
