Together, you can begin a journey to reaching whatever goal you set. I believe I can be a creative guide along that path. I believe in hands on teaching wherever possible. Learning is more that just rote memorization. It is the developing of a quest to broaden horizons, a thirst for new adventures, the conquering of giants. After emigrating to the United States and serving 4 years in the US Air Force I pursued a career in IBM Mainframe Programming. For 4 years I taught Business Programming at Boulder Vocational/Technical College as well as conducting many in-house training sessions at Storage Tek. I have five years middle and high school teaching experience with Rocky Mountain International Academy in Montrose, Colorado. I have taught the following subjects - Latin I, Latin II, Latin III, U.S. History, Colorado History, Great Books, Civics, Economics, Rhetoric, Debate, Drama, Computer Spreadsheets, and Business. Past graduates of the school and my classes have found success in colleges such as Air Force Academy and Colorado School of Mines.
My teaching style is very interactive in the Socratic method. I act as a guide for teaching much as a catalyst for learning. The emphasis in all of my classes is in communication skills and building character. As college prep classes are structured to teach note taking and research and writing skills.
