Young people learn through different ways and means. I try to discern the best method to instruct any particular student with whom I am tutoring at the time. I like to give examples of problems, and "problem solve" with the student through illustrative examples on paper or on the board. I encourage questions and feedback to ensure that the young person is indeed learning "how" to solve a problem, not simply to "get" a solution. A student's practical demonstration of problem solving is the best gauge to determine if that student is indeed learning or not. While giving instruction, I strive to be patient, accomodating and respectful of the student in need. I love to give encouragement and praise for any task or assignment done well!

I am a very enthusiastic teacher. I love my subjects and want, above all, to instill in my students a love of learning. I believe that all children can be enthusiastic about learning if a patient teacher or tutor is willing to work with them at their own pace and can find a "common ground" with the child's interests.
