I graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in Mathematics. I spent a year as a Substitute Teacher in Lincoln, NE. I then took a year and a half break from teaching to recruit for a small college. I went back into teaching as a grade 7-12 mathematics teacher. I was responsible for the 7th grade through pre-calculus courses at Wheatland Public Schools in Madrid Nebraska. This school was then combined into Grant Public Schools. I am also a strong technical trainer in my current role and provide necessary computer and analytical training to all new associates at the current company I work for. I teach to the student. I find exactly what their strengths are and incorporate it in some way to learn something new. Education is a set of building blocks and can only be as strong as the foundation.

My main experience lies in working with elementary aged children in literacy and religious education programs. However, I received a bachelors degree in political science from DePauw University and a law degree (with honors) from the University of Nebraska, so I have a great deal of educational experience to draw from in teaching students as a tutor. In addition to my educational experience, I also have “real world” business experience and excellent research and writing skills through working as an attorney, all of which I will also draw from while tutoring. I enjoy working with students of all ages. I strive to encourage students to develop a love for learning and the ability to learn independently. I see teaching as a dialog between teacher and student and adjust the speed and depth of my teaching to best help the student succeed. Most importantly I want to the student to leave with a greater understanding of the subject than when they entered. I taught recitation for Honors Differential Equations, Differential Equations, Calculus 3, Calculus 2 and Introduction to Computer Science as an undergraduate at Georgia Tech and physics and astronomy labs as a graduate student at the University of Tennessee. I was consistently rated highly as a teacher by students.
