I have been teaching in various forms for over ten years. I was a teaching assistant for four semesters in graduate school. I mentored and tutored people during my time as a Naval officer. I worked for Kaplan Inc for about a year, teaching almost all of their tests, including SAT, ACT, MCAT, LSAT, GRE, and GMAT. I taught mathematics and statistics at Parkland College for three years. I am currently employed as a full-time instructor at a government laboratory...but I'd like to teach more, in the late afternoons, evenings, and weekends!

I have always loved working with children. My teaching style is friendly, and casual, but still quite demanding. I try to create a comfortable and fun tutoring environment, but within that environment I challenge my students to work past their difficulties to reach levels of achievement they may not have previously believed themselves capable of. As a recreation major, I have held a number of jobs working with children of all ages. My first job as a lifeguard and swim instructor helped me understand how to work with children ages three to fifteen and really get a feel for how their brains operate and the proper learning styles to use for each age.
