My teaching style is not entirely concrete, for I feel that it depends on the maturity of the student and willingness to learn the subject at hand. I am very patient when I need to be, and my main goal is to simply make sure each student walks away knowing what they needed to learn. I am a 19 year old college student who is living in Murrieta for the next few summer months, and attends Cal State Fullerton. I have taken piano lessons for over 11 years now, and have a few years experience in teaching/tutoring in piano. My major concentration in college is Studio Art, and have also had experience in teaching art classes through M.A.D. Studio. Through experience in college and high school, I am also very familiar with Microsoft Office programs, and have helped those who are struggling in the newer editions of these MS programs.

I am what you might call a camp kid. I grew up spending summers in the mountains, camping and hiking and when I grew older, working. The foundation of my leadership experience was built in the forrest. For six summers I worked as an outdoor educator and adventure guide, leading groups of students through week long trips into the natural world. I believe in experience as the greatest teacher. As a high school student, I taught music and math to middle school kids for approximately two years. The music they learned was performed in a competitive circuit in which they placed. As an undergraduate, I served as a study proctor in my sorority from 2007-2009 tutoring in the subjects of math, science, and writing. I believe tutoring is not only to raise children's grades, but also to make sure they understand the material so it can be applied to other principles in their future education. I have been a public school music educator for three years, and have taught privately for ten years. I love teaching children. I try to find ways to relate the subject matter to the students so that they may be able to better understand it. I evaluate the student and see where he/she stands and move forward in progressing their skill. Every instrument is different and difficult in its own way. I will teach the student the most productive way to practice by using the technique I learned by professors and professional musicians. For trumpet, I work on the embochure, and breathing. For violin, I evaluate the way the student holds the instrument including posture. I use a special tape to help guide with the notes which I use as training wheels, and take them down one at a time as the student progresses.
