As a student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo I was interested in English education, especially in terms of helping students improving their reading and writing skills. I followed this interest by tutoring at the university writing lab, as well as doing frequent one-on-one tutor sessions with students in need. At the end of each quarter I conducted private, one-on-one counseling sessions with the goal of helping students pass Cal Poly's Graduation Writing Requirement. I am a creative, patient teacher. I know that everyone learns differently, so I try to come up with many different ways to explain a concept. I love to see the sudden understanding in a student's eyes when they finally understand a difficult concept. This is what makes teaching an addictive and highly fulfilling activity for me.
