The beginning of everything, I've got three younger sisters and there has always been a fair amount of helping out where they're concerned. Since I have worked students with a wide variety of learning issues; I feel that I am well prepared to assess and deliver educational materials and instruction to any student. I understand that each student has his learning style and prefers specific modalities such as: games & puzzles, logical sequential, the arts, naturalistic, etc. Although those would not be the only modalities I would use to educate my students, I feel that I must acknowledge this and respond with a portion of the lessons directed at personal interest. I am patient yet firm. My personal background in mathematics was fairly rigorous, so I always make my students show their work. As the subject material gets tougher, it becomes more critical to be able to check all stages of one's work. One of my math teachers gave me some sage advice: "Math teachers are lazy. We find the quickest and shortest route to a solution." I've taken this tongue-in-cheek wisdom to heart in my own way. While there is only one single solution for any math problem, there are infinitely elegant ways to arrive at that solution. I really like working with all sorts of people. There is no satisfaction greater than when I can see the spark in a person's eye when they comprehend materials they had not before. Everyone can learn any material they set their mind to if they have the motivation and the proper learning environment, and of course the right teacher. It is my desire to be a great teacher, educator, and mentor. As a recent graduate from the University of California Riverside, I have earned a bachelors of science degree from the institution. During my time at UCR I developed a passion for the sciences which was taught by dedicated professors who served as my mentors.
