Teaching is a vital to any academic career. My goal as a teacher is to effectively communicate the subject matter in an interesting way to the student in order to create an atmosphere conducive to learning. I would use number of methods such as in-class participation, demonstration-Supplemented Lectures, development of internet resources and research papers to clearly convey principles relevant to the chemistry classes I would teach. While pursuing an undergraduate program in Biology, I was fortunate to join the peer mentoring program at my school. As a peer mentor, I tutored in General Chemistry 1 and 2 for two years. I made counseled and guarded my peers in my area of study I also tutored in calculus 1 for a program by the division of science called City College Academic for Professional Preparation (CCAPP). I later tutored in statistics for the premedical office at my school.

I really love teaching and finding different ways of using analogies and similarities to explain difficult concepts. I have been very successful in teaching the sciences and mathematics courses in an understandable way. I believe that everyone is capable of learning the material, it simply needs to be presented in the correct way. Some students are more verbal learners, others are more visual learners. My teaching style is more along the lines of the Montessori system. Given the freedom and much direction from the tutor, the student will often "discover" the essence of the lesson. In discovering the essence of the lesson, the student will take ownership. In taking ownership, the student in turn will develop pride, self worth, and a thirst for more knowledge and more successes.
