A Little Bit About Me...

I have 25 years experience in the civil engineering field, specifically the water resources area. I started substitute teaching at both the Lincoln Community High School and Hartem School District in 2009. I also started tutoring for Lincoln College in the Academic Success Center, last year. I tutor biology, chemistry, but especially math of all levels ... including statistics and geometry. I have been tutoring math from beginning basic math through advanced calculus and statistics at Lincoln College for the past 2 semesters. I have also been substitute teaching at Hartem Elementary and High School; and Lincoln Community High School for the past 2 semesters. This combined with my BA degrees from the University of Illinois qualify me for the courses I have chosen to tutor.

I love helping people realize that they are smarter than they think. Seeing the look on a student's face when he/she grasps a new concept is a very rewarding experience. I understand that most people want to do well, but have often encountered hurdles that don't allow them the success that they are seeking. A good tutor can help remove those hurdles and make a huge difference in the student's future success.
I had always wanted to be a teacher, but after teaching for several years I found that I enjoyed the one-on-one experience more. I have a triple major in math education, elementary education and physical education. A Little Bit About Me...

My experience in teaching is limited other than helping my brother-in-law with tutoring through algebra in college. I enjoyed it very much, and it was extremely fulfilling. I can tutor/teach various courses in math, business, engineering/construction technology, etc.
I want to guide the student to figuring out the right answer themselves by demonstrating a problem for them, and having them work a similar one. I will be there step by step to offer direction in a very pleasant, easy going manner.
