My comments on tutoring Writing : I enjoy writing and the process involved and I would love the opportunity to help others see how much fun it can be to write and see your end product. I'm also a very good writer and I'm skilled at proofreading papers and essays and improving them - ranging from content and sentence structure to simple grammar mistakes.

I have been tutoring students for about 5 years. I started when I was a junior in high school. My first experiences tutoring were through the National Honor Society. I volunteered after school once or twice per week and I tutored mainly ESL students in Math and English. My senior year of high school and throughout the time I was in college, I tutored a high school student who had educational and developmental deficits. For example, I feel that some concepts may be better explained with tangible objects while other concepts are learned better when questioned and discussed. Attending a private liberal arts college taught me to push myself to be the very best I could be. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Classics with an emphasis on Greek, and a minor in English. If for example we are doing a unit on weather then my students may role play a weather man. Gather vocabulary from a newspaper. Count change as if they were really buying something. Read and write from a reporters perspective, or even travel to a museum with a reoprt and description of things they have seen using adjective and adverbs for color and detail. I also believe reading should be taught at the appropriate reading level for comprehensions sake. If a reader is below the 98% error level, they will not succeed.
